• Global temperature rise of 0.32°F per decade
• 12.8°F increase over last 40 years
• Greenhouse gases trapped in atmosphere
• Rising sea levels and melting glaciers
• Increased natural disasters and habitat disruption
Me and my team believe global warming is a serious problem that needs to be fixed. Global warming is when temperatures over time are changing and causing patterns in the weather. It is disrupting the usual balances of nature. It is affecting humans and other living forms of life on Earth.
In the last 40 years, the global annual temperature has risen by 0.32 degree Fahrenheit per decade. That is 12.8 degrees, it has increased in the last 40 years. This global warming is caused by carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collected in the atmosphere. Usually this radiation would escape into space but the pollutants, which can stay for years in the atmosphere, are trapping the heat and causing the planet to get hotter.
Although climate change is a natural phenomenon and has been changing over the last 800,000 years, our era of climate change is specifically caused by us humans. The activities we do such as burning coal, oil, gasoline and natural gas which results in the greenhouse effect. These greenhouse gasses are causing glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise, disruption of habitats and even causing people to have allergies and get sick.
Global warming is already impacting the United States and if us people are not able to handle our emissions we can look forward to animal extinction, disease outbreaks, flooding and wildfires.
