Minimum Wage Policy

The primary purpose of minimum wage is to provide all people with a reasonable amount of money, enough to keep them out of poverty and cover their basic needs. Raising the minimum helps the economy and gets people out of poverty. Also the people that are getting paid are usually the ones that are doing the hardest work in the businesses they work for, like high school students. People like these are working in their free time, and if the minimum wage is too low, then they won't be getting a fair amount of money for all their hard work.

Studies show that when there is a higher minimum wage, it lowers the amount of students that dropout of high school by significant percentages. This creates a more educated and skilled workforce for our future.

Another benefit of raising the minimum wage is boosting the economy. When wages are increased, consumer spending also increases, and higher pay makes people have more money to spend, which eventually leads to growth for retailers and other businesses. If people that are currently in poverty make more money, then they will need less federal and state financial aids, which decreases the amount of money the government spends.

Finally, an increase in minimum wage increases the quality of life and standard of living, which is crucial since inflation is a big issue and the cost of living is going up. This policy ensures that all Americans can maintain a dignified standard of living through their hard work.
